Our Journey

From Vision to Reality

The CalhamBerkekey Group was founded in 2006 by a Howard University Dentist, Calvin O. Culmer, and a Princeton University/Howard University-trained primary care physician, Karl Hammonds. Dr. Hammonds is deceased; Dr. Culmer continues to serve as the President/CEO of The CalhamBerkekey Group.

Founded in 2010, CalhamBerkeley Group has consistently been at the forefront of healthcare and workforce development. Our mission is to empower communities through innovative solutions that enhance healthcare delivery and workforce skills.

The CalhamBerkeley Group has been widely recognized for its Community Preparedness in the Washington, D.C. Metropolitan area, northern Virginia, and Maryland. Our goal is to improve public health policy initiatives; our vision is to keep public health and wellness issues in the hearts and minds of individuals, groups, institutions, policymakers, donors, volunteers, and funders. We provide specifically tailored health and wellness initiatives that improve our clients’ human condition and quality of life.

The CalhamBerkeley Group desires to ensure that our clients receive specifically targeted initiatives that meet their needs and targeted goals. The CalhamBerkekey Group utilizes volunteers to expand our outreach in the communities we serve, supporting our ability to provide high-quality health, wellness, and life skill resources to underserved individuals, groups, families, and public and private institutions in Washington, D.C., Northern Virginia, and Maryland.

The CalhamBerkekey Group’s Mission

The CalhamBerkekey Group will provide state-of-the-art medical care and lifestyle resources for our underserved clients who live below the federal poverty line.

The CalhamBerkekey Group will endeavor to identify gaps in services and service delivery and ensure that our clients are on the medical and lifestyle resources continuum.

The CalhamBerkekey Group will take a leadership role in working with a range of providers (not just health care providers) to identify and meet the employability skills needs of our target population.

The CalhamBerkekey Group will endeavor to expand the organization’s accessibility and visibility in Maryland and Virginia Eligible Metropolitan Areas (EMAs).
